Nice shot. It is nice and sharp.Of course, at ISO 800, there's some noise, but to me, it doesn't detract from the shot. Am interested to see what kind of results you get with this combo. Am thinking about getting the same thing in the future.

Excellent shot, but there's a lot of noise. However it seems to be limited to the background as the bird looks pretty clean, so simply run some noise reduction on that background.

I am more than pleased considering very little light but the one thing i can tell u once its locked on focus and you follow the bird theres not much difference in this to the 1.4x II i use in speed when tracking just got to remember to turn off C:fn III .No4 Focus Search off set to 1

Very nice shot; great tones through the whole bird.

This is really nice.

Weather permitting I'm hoping to be able to shoot a nest with owlets this weekend using a 400F5.6 and the 2XIII. No AF, but should be static in the nest.

Not a bad shot with lousy light. Bring on the sun!

I like it, you are going to like that combo, very little IQ loss with the 2xIII. Have fun!

Always enjoy seeing people pushing the edge with light and reach....nice result given all the challenges! You have to feel good about that shot and real excited about what will happen when the obstacles are removed!

Beautiful image, I am not bothered by the higher ISO.
I love my 300 2.8L IS USM.
I may just have to purchase a 2x III.
Don't tell my wife!
