Those russians make some strange shaped helos!!

Yes, and the one with the contra rotating rotors reminds me of a USA Sikorsky design (I think) and the last one is so like our oldie of the Westland Wessex...............now I wonder where "they" got the ideas for those designs ;)

That X3 is very cool and conjures up memories of "Airwolf" with its ability to go at jet speeeeeeeeds. I can see it being a real winner!

Evening all,

Being the Summer Solstice thought i'd try my luck at another sunset over a Poppy Field. Unfortunately clouds weren't going to let us get away with two great sunsets in a row. So, inspired by a competition i'm looking to enter I've just shot (and edited) this:

More X3 info

http://www.engadget.com …ord-of-430kmh-readies-fo/ (external link) mentions top speed 279mph

8 min video here http://nextbigfuture.com …x3-hybrid-helicopter.html (external link)

More insight http://www.defencetalk.com …ds-232-knots-speed-34224/ (external link)

At least this one works unlike the now defunct (for production & sales) F35 VTOL version :(
