stunning isnt it.

this is the deal

When the electric field becomes strong enough, an electrical discharge (the bolt of lightning) occurs within clouds or between clouds and the ground. During the strike, successive portions of air become a conductive discharge channel as the electrons and positive ions of air molecules are pulled away from each other and forced to flow in opposite directions.

The electrical discharge rapidly superheats the discharge channel, causing the air to expand rapidly and produce a shock wave heard as thunder. The rolling and gradually dissipating rumble of thunder is caused by the time delay of sound coming from different portions of a long stroke.

A last few shots from me for today ... I need to crash out as Farne is calling ...

This one is for Jonathan who asked for a picture of an arctic weasel ...

Ok ok ... so it's a Reindeer ... couldn't find anything like an arctic weasel!!

Some rather agressive behaviour from the sledding team. Once they get going, all focus is on the pulling of the sled, but before they go, they're noisy and agressive with each other. They calm down as soon as you go fuss them however - so they're not at all dangerous! The dogs they use on Svalbard are a cross between huskies and greenland dog ... so all shapes and sizes!

Thank you - they were so focused once they started pulling the sled - totally different to beforehand when they were establishing their rank!

Hi Guys - sorry for being so quiet on the forum. Still no internets :(

I need your opinions very quickly. Im editing some images from last week and the colour images look horrid due to clashes so im converting to B+W.

Do these conversions look ok to you? Im editing on a shiny screened mac book so cant tell 100% but i think im happy with them. (apart from the blown window highlights which could not be helped).

Also - i have never done the shoes before. Do you think that shot works?

Cheers for your help guys!

Rob
