I thought you would all be out there already ;), as for the 300 I find if the light is good turn off the IS for the BIF (or PIF!) it will focus much quicker, not that its slow but it does help a tad, I have always found that its really sharp on my 5D2 its that lens I normally use for my dragonfly, lizard and deer shots, have a good day, and bring me back a razorbill please :D

Your lens is loooooovely!!!!! Sadly no room in the camera bag for a razorbill ... Sorry!!

I think i prefer the first overall, but you do get to see the whole image in the second one.

Perhaps adding titles to the images in the second version will give it a bit more structure?

Hmm just revved up the computer to do some more editting as well while watching the tennis

It definitely is a good upgrade - just don't forget to tweak the preferences in CS4/5 to allow it to use more of the newly available RAM (Edit>Preferences>Performance).

Thanks for that, I would not have realised I need to do it, I just assumed it was all automatic

And JD I strolled past the Smokehouse the " boutique fish and chip shop " as Cindy called it with it's long que and the average price for fish and chips was £7.95 for a 8x4x3 inch box of fish and chips, I didn't get any I'll stick to the chip shop round the corner where I get something 3 times as big for £4.50 or your favoutite down in Sandgate.

That last picture looks as though it would be fun.

Bargain chips then, I take it you all shared a portion!!

I'm off to Milton Keynes for the wedding of a friend of Cindy. We've been press ganged into doing the photo's but as it is a very modest registry office do, I'm not too worried about my complete lack of experience and questionable photographic skills ;) Sunday I'm off to Romania for work so no rest for the wicked this weekend :)

Fingers crossed with the weather, I am sure you will be fine

I'm trying something different here take at one of the art instillations that's part of the Folkestone Triennial the discription is from the Triennial website.

Folkestone Triennial wrote:
Lighthouse In The Sea Of Time
Former deckchair storage, The Leas, CT20 2DY
Sedira’s poetic multi-screen film installation centres on two extraordinary lighthouses in Algeria, Cap Caxine, near the capital of Algiers (1868) and Cap Sigli (1906). Both were built
by the French during the occupation and are imposing and exquisite historic, architectural and political landmarks. The film includes interviews with the lighthouse keepers, who reminisce about life inside these isolated towers. For Sedira, this work is also a reflection on and return to her family roots.
The Folkestone site echoes the subject matter of Sedira’s film. A large hall, built into the cliff high above the sea, it has been boarded up for decades and will be made accessible to the public for the first time.

For those interested in the beach photos, you can see how Ian and I worked the light to beat the sun as they walked down the beach here;

We used a 580Ex behind a shoot through umbrella using Pocket wizard flex system. The flash was in manual at 1/4 power.

and this is the result:

Nicely done :) I'm going to have to invest in some pocket wizards this year I think.

The camera cant format the card, neither will the computer.

Evening all ... It's been an eventful day ... With plenty of stories to tell ... But for now here is another cheeky chappie to show you ...

Reckon we should make this an annual trip as both days have been different ... And this afternoon Dennis Fiona and I even ran the gauntlet (ok, drove the causeway) over to Holy island at low tide to go see the castle! Tonnes of fun.
