Nice, seeing shots like that make me wish we had crystal clear tropical waters around us instead of the freezing cold, murky English channel!

No need for that for me. I just plug the USB cable into my 7D and ASUS Transformer keyboard (comes with 2 USB ports). It works a treat too. All the exposure controls are there. Touch focusing, bracketing, thirds display, ...

As they mention here: https://market.android.com ….chainfire.dslrcontroller (external link)

Features include but are not limited to:

- Live View
- Auto Focus (tap Live View)
- Manual focus adjustments in Auto Focus mode
- Histogram
- Zoom control
- Grid display
- Bulb capture
- Continuous capture
- Extensive modification of settings
--- Shutter speed
--- Aperture
--- Exposure Compensation and Bracket
--- Flash Compensation
--- ISO speed
--- Auto-Focus Mode
--- Focus and Zoom area (tap-and-hold Live View)
--- Picture Style
--- Drive Mode
--- White Balance
--- Color Temperature
--- Auto-Lighting Optimizer
--- Metering Mode

I could definitely see myself using that in the apporpriate types of shoots.

Wendy

Well, if you go to a DIY shop, you'll see a brand of duct tape called "duck tape", so you're not far off.

Either are fine, but I've always called it "gaffer" tape as well.

Gaffer tape and duct tape are actually different things. Duct tape is reinforced with string and has tough adhesive and is meant to be permanent. Gaffer tape is made so it can be easily removed, so a bit like electrical tape, but wider and thicker.

So be careful about your needs.

Just to note - Gaffers tape is very different from Duct tape.

Duct tape will leave a sticky, glue residue, mark surfaces and is strong enough to pull paint from walls when removed.
Gaffers tape is lower tack, leaves little to no residue and is unlikely to damage anything.

Be aware of those differences before putting it on your gear or a customers walls etc.

the WW2 pics are super, do you dress up too - or are you just hovering around taking pics?

I do get garbed up and run about with them.
I hated doing that at first but now i dont mind.

I have an FED-1 which is the russian version of the III-c.
The Story is that the Leica III was first developed in Russian factories due to the limitations put on german industry and research by the treaty of Versailles after ww1. Read it in quite few places but can't be sure how accurate it is. Makes sense though.

The FED is almost identical, but has far inferior optics. I still shoot film through it, though I use it mainly as a prop. U also have a variety of 1920-30's 8mm and 16mm cine cameras. One if which was designed to be used by crews of scout aircraft.

They all work too, film is just too expensive to buy/develop.
