Why is buying straps (and other things) an addiction?

I've had this obsession looking at different carrying solutions. I'll gone with the padded strap, the rubberized straps, R-straps, cotton carrier holsters, spider holsters.
I can't stop from wanting other carrying methods.

It really has nothing to do with the optical chain.
I just thought I'd highlight this. Seems to be a strange preoccupation among us nowadays.

I got along just fine with Domke Grippers, but I'm still lusting for Spider Holsters (even though I know i'll end up going back to the Domke straps!)

With that said, what have you all tried out but then ended up going back to?

Since you like straps I have a question for you. I'm looking for a strap for my Canon T2i which will allow the camera to hang down to my hip. My last major outing I carried my camera around my neck for three days using the strap that came with it. For my next trip I want to have it hanging at my hip out of the way but easily accessible. Frankly I don't want to spend $50 for a strap. Can you recommend a strap that is less expensive but secure, solid, and comfortable?

you can try an ebay version of a black rapids strap...

there's a couple threads around here somewhere with a review of it.

I use a sunsniper Pro steel, and never looked back at neck straps.

You should do a review of your experience on the various straps you've tried. It may benefit someone looking at different products.

Just because it's called a neck strap doesn't mean you have to wear it around your neck. ;)
Try wearing it like a sling strap, i.e. across the chest. You'll thank me later.

Thats how I carry mine, I REALLY don't like having it hang around my neck like a coat on a hanger ;)

I started out doing that with the OEM Canon strap... either like a sling (too short) or on one shoulder (too risky). Ended up getting a sling strap. Works for me. :)
