Can't seem to get the software to work after installing from (windows 7) the disk. I do have a nice desktop with 8 gigs of ram so I don't think it's the computer but the operator. Not able to drag the photos into the work area. The viewer is the only thing that works and of course you can't process with that. I really want to start doing raw and I need the simplest and cheapest program to work with. I'm an old guy and it's true about the learning new tricks thing with me.

Hah, probably a kid compared to me.
I'm not sure how you are trying to use DPP, but you don't "drag photos into the work area". There are two ways to edit RAWs: One is to double click on a thumbnail in the Main window and an "Edit" window will open. Open the Tool Palette and edit away. I don't care for this method because you have to open a separate window for each image. A better way is to select the thumbnails you want to edit with Control + click (or Edit/Select all if that's what you want) and click the "Open in Edit Image Window" button at the left end of the tool bar. The Edit Image window has Previous/Next arrows for scrolling through the selected shots or you can open a filmstrip and open them from there.

I would ask you to come over for some coffee and first hand knowledge but I see your a pretty good ways away. I removed everything and reinstalled so I think I gotter now. Certainty don't have the hardware you have but my little G10 takes some nice shots even in the hands of this 66 year old. Leaving for Key West next week on my motorcycle and hoping to find some nice sunsets and other colorful things to preserve.
Thanks again for you help,
Biscuit
