7D + 300 2.8 L IS + 2X III Converter

For those who saw yesterdays post i got my new 2x III Converter to go with my 7D + 300 2.8 L IS these to shots where taken from about 60 yards away overcast day both pics are only about 126 kbytes each
1/640 f8.0 ISO 400 at 600mm

Those are great shots! Definitely like this combo.


My Gear: 6D, 7D, EOS-M w EF-M 22 f2 STM and EF-M 18-55 f3.5-5.6 IS STM, 17-40L f4, 24-70L f2.8, 100 f2.8 non-IS macro, 70-200L f/4 IS, 400L f5.6,, Canon 1.4x II TC, Canon Speedlite 430 EX II, Better Beamer. Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod, 2 monopods, Manfrotto ballhead and pistol grip tripod heads.

Looks soft to me. Nut much detail in the birds at all.

The color is nice but sharpness is not what I'd expect from that combination.

thats probably my fault because i dont know the best way to down size them under 150 kbs files can someone tell me the best way please

I would guess the overcast is actually the problem, not you. With out good lighting there are no details to be had, just wait for sunshine and check again

The light does seem to make details(AF) not there on bad lighting days....

You're not going to do any better with a 2X teleconverter in that light. Nice birds.
