This beautiful male was perched on the arm of a docent at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum (external link).

The Desert Museum, just west of Tucson, is an almost seamlessly combined zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden, all in one place. Within the Museum grounds, you will see more than 300 animal species and 1,200 kinds of plants on two miles of paths over twenty-one acres of beautiful desert and riparian areas.

Not quite the right tools for the particular shot: 70-200 2.8 with a 1.4 extender sitting on a 7D body.

Gorgeous shot. Only thing I'm not crazy about are the shadows.

I've only seen them hover and stoop three times. Their speed and control is flat amazing even considering that's how they earn their living.

Down here they make good use of the big Saguaro cactus for both vantage and housing. They nest in cavities created by woodpeckers.

Okay, someone PLEASE help me! I looked at this at work today on the company Laptop. I liked the dark green BG. I just got home, and the picture looks compleatly different on my home computer. The BG looks light brown on this comp and the picture look much better, but it looked good at work to, just darker.
So, what color is the BG?
