Cheers for mentioning micro adjustment, as I mentioned its either +2 or +3 I'm not too sure, in the last image she was running down hill at full speed, but the focus was on her face.

All images are links so will take you to much bigger versions, I could post bigger but I recall getting into a little trouble from a mod for posting at 1024x707 and as flckr doesn't do a 800x? size I'm stuck with those.

Are you using +2 or +3 as a guess or have you sat down with a solid tripod and test area to fine tune this figure?

I have another thread on the whole testing with charts lark - I tried that at first and it came up as +20!!

So I nipped out into the garden, took some images and came up with +2 at the time, I just tried +3 today as I found a small stick like plant poking up on the horizon with solid blue sky behind and thought it would make a good test so tried that out.

If I recall though there was something about minimum distance when testing and at 150mm it was much bigger than my room, so gave it up as a bad job.

But for some known reason didn't use the tripod in my roaming tests!

Okay, here are some test shots showing the focus point (I switched to using the shutter button for focus for these tests), I was using a monopod at the time for a little more stability.

And finally:

To me it looks like the +3's are better but what do you chaps(esses) think?

When people say they didn't test with their tripod or tested only with a monopod, do you realize that your tests really don't add up to much?

You need to boil down to real characterisations!

Start out with these steps, and then move on to testing how things can vary with your technique:
