I did not vote on the poll because I use the 24-105 on both my 30D and 5DII. It depends on what I'm shooting (what range of focal length is required). Also have the 17-55 which (sadly) cannot be used on the 5DII.

On which lens to pick, I can't/won't offer any advice because the variables are mostly based on what your style is. Experience is the only guide in choosing a lens - the advice of others may be somewhat useful, but no one would have suggested I initially buy the 30D/24-105 combination, yet it worked well for me.

My experience is much like that of "ganzosrevenge" - the 24-105/crop combo works well. The 17-55 is more rugged than many realize (and the IQ is very good). When editing in Lightroom, I can only tell the images from the two lenses apart by looking at the EXIF (unless I magnify, and then the 17-55 usually wins for IQ).

Well, I have now been able to post my own vote as I have pulled the trigger and purchased the 24-105. Just waiting for it to arrive. :)

Ian.
