Metadata in LR3

I finally managed to install LR3 on my husband's computer while waiting to get my new computer and have been importing some pictures. When I was using DPP I could get details on a photo such as shooting mode used (e.g. aV priority, manual) and autofocus point(s) used. I can't seem to find these 2 details in LR3 in metadata. Am I looking in the wrong place? Because LR3 is not a Canon program, does it not read those 2 details from the camera? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm new to LR.

To see the Shooting mode go to the Metadata Panel in Library Mode. You'll see a drop-down list on the left side of the panel; change it from Default to EXIF and you'll see the mode used.

Lightroom does NOT display active focus point(s).

I like knowing the shooting mode because my husband loves the green square (gasp) or P, so I can always pick out which shots are his when we've been out shooting together - although it does cheese me off when sometimes his green rectangle shots are better than my AV priority shots (still have lots to learn)!
Bummer about the focus points, though as I was using it as a learning tool about my camera's and my focussing habits.

Well there's no rule that says you can't use DPP once you import your photos into Lightroom. Just be sure not to edit the photos in DPP since those changes can't be read by Lightroom.

You know, just after I hit "submit", that very thought came to me, thanks for confirming.

Yeah, Diane, I've been using DPP a lot over the last year, even though I've been a died-in-the-wool Lightroom user for, well, since the early days. DPP is actually fun for me. And, the focus points are there and such. There is no reason why you can't use Lightroom to Import and do "serious" stuff to your images but at the same time use DPP to do things as well!
