Interesting series of articles on C5D detailing the new Sony NEX FS 100 and uncompressed recording via hdmi out.... Seems like the missing link between HDSLR and Red/Alexa...

What do you guys think?

The new Sony will be awesome, but I'd still rather have the Sound Devices I posted about a couple days ago over the other two recorders.

the sony does look nice at that price point. the one thing that went out the window with the hdslr revolution was video camera ergonomics, and bringing back the video camera form factor with the af100 and the sony linked above is a bit refreshing. still, the 5d2 and other dslrs kick out a very impressive image at a very attractive price point in a super portable package, so i think it's too early to call anything remotely close to being released an 'hdslr killer'.

it'll still be plenty useful. Camera base price on that new sony is still 6K? plus the recorder if you're into that. 5D2 are going for, what, $2500, plus tripod plus shoulder rig plus audio recorder plus viewfinder plus slider plus a bunch of other cool stuff and you're still not at the cost of the sony body.

Chip,

Haha yeah, I'm just adding to the drama. I won't let go of my 5D and all my gear!!! Those E-Mount lenses some how don't tick right for me...
