I had to get out of bed a couple of hours before sunrise to set up my gear and try to catch the ISS, which was scheduled to make a bright mag -3.8 pass over Manila this morning.

Here's a shot taken with the 400 2.8 IS + 2x/2x/1.4x TCs (2263 mm) on the 7D. It's my best capture yet of the space bird using my birding lenses. :)

Excellent work. Now all you need for the next pass is a space-walker to give you a wave ;)

Holy cow! That's an amazing pic! It must have been tough spotting it in the viewfinder at the focal length you were using.

Yes, acquiring a small fast moving target against a vast black BG (no reference points) is quite tough at such a narrow angle of view. I got lucky to find the ISS in the VF seconds after it appeared. :)

Let me see.... 8 - 2x TCs = 2^8 or 256x.

My 400 2.8 becomes 102.4 meters focal length at f/724. I think I'd need gamma rays to illuminate the subject instead of photons so the "light" can pass through that much glass. :D
