My in laws neighbor built a nesting platform about 6 years ago. The pair have 3 youngsters that just fledged last week. We were fortunate that the sun was out today and that we were able to spy one of the owlets in open shade.

I wasn't sure how long he/she would hang around so I didn't try the TC2XIII on the 400 F5.6. Oh well, maybe another day.

Someday... someday I just want to see one owl in the wild. Just one.

What a fantastic thing to put in your garden, and what a lovely owl too :)

I know what you mean. Yesterday I saw this one, one of its siblings and one of the parents. The only other time I've seen an owl in the wild was up outside of Victoria, my wife and I were having dinner at in Souke Harbor and one flew up into a tree right out side the window we were sitting next to. It was twilight and it sat and stared at us.

It's quit the yard they have. A small farm that sits on 20 acres. From where I took the shot there is a 1 acre pond directly behind me, the property then runs far behind the owlet into a large protected wildlife area.

Fuzzy cuteness! Lucky you to be in the right place at the right time. Nice shot.

Very nice. I'm looking forward to the results of your longer lens.
