This one makes a ritual out of getting a single seed from the feeder ...

1. Takes up residence on trunk of tree ... inconspicuous as possible.

Great shots Dave. I wondered how you were able to get so close with 135mm but you have explained it.

Glad these guys come around. Saw the male yesterday. I believe what was posted here was the female. They live in a tree at the back of our home.

Great series. You made him look cute! :)

He's really cool. Sometimes he sits (pic #2) and tries to scream off the other birds. Doesn't work as none of the other birds see him as a threat, I guess.

Yeah, unfortunately through the window with a 135. Sold off the 70-200 so I have what I have anymore!

Lovely series.

Thank you Sparker. Nice 'model' for the lens and the light was beautiful at 4pm-ish. A bit of rare sunshine in my neck of the woods.

Excellent series. I think your model deserves some suet or an orange half.

Thanks George. This time of year, the feeders and suet cages are being overrun by the RWBB, Starlings and grackles. Real 'bull in china shop' behavior. I've only been filling the single feeder to keep the traffic down. I'll see if sneaking an orange wedge or two in the tree keeps the red bellies around! Thanks for the tip!
