Look at lens options and prices. (2) Canon provides image processing software with it's cameras and tons of on-line support and videos. Also, the Canon 5DMKII just went up $200 which means it's the same price as the Nikon D700 now. ![]() Someone is still selling them for $2499, I'll have to go back and see who.

May as well read Nikon's site. You wouldn't know that by reading the article in question. "There are some things that money can't buy, but they aren't Ls and aren't worth having" -- Shooter-boy

He actually prefers the 5Dmk2 for most of his uses. You might want to read the article and decide for yourself how fanboyish he is. I don't even bother clicking on links to his site. Okay, that makes one unbiased Nikon-Canon article on his site in addition to the 1000 that are. I've shot both bodies extensively and know the pros/cons of both. If Canon gets smart and uses an AF system similar to the 7D in the next 5D it's going to put a dent in the D700 sales. Also, 12MP is really dated now and I'm surprised Nikon hasn't already gone to the sensor that's in the D3x.

The vast majority end up displayed at around 1000pix. Very few people print anything larger than say 8x10.

People like to drink the Canon purple kool-aid. Does it taste any different than the Nikon flavor?

Isn't it quite presumptuous for you to determine the needs of others? Ditto for you implying 12mp is so outdated and you need more in order to make great images.

I think your assessment of the general population hardly printing larger than 8x10s is very flawed. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

True, but that comparison is fairly objective, I would say. Check it out and see what you think. Seems in line with everything I have read elsewhere.

Which was, partially, my point. Chances are the users of FF DSLRs are doing considerably more with their images than merely printing them, which makes the comment Hogloff wrote: 12mp is enough for 99% of the photos taken these days. ...Very few people print anything larger than say 8x10. kind of narrow, IMO, considering the cameras being discussed in this thread. Your response about the general public, while correct, responds to a comment that seems invalid to me. Tom
