Lights that are LED lights don't give off too much heat, but for studio photography I never use constant lights, or "Hot Lights". It makes subjects sweat, then their makeup runs, makes them uncomfortable, and can sear your skin if you accidentally touch them. I have modeling lights on my studio strobes, so I use them if I need. Video is really the only time, and LED technology is the way to go. Constant lights (especially non-LEDs) for photography aren't really optimal, in my opinion. Too hot/worse adjustability/underpowered isn't a great combo.
