I was looking for the effect of of his GF like ghosted in the background. I'm sure if and when I can do photoshop. I could take off her clothing and leave just her head in the background.

Alright so I hope you don't mind that I took a shot at it. It's amazing how a far a little bit of proper post-process goes.

Broke it down into the three stages here:

Original Image-

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/png'


After a couple of CS4 adjustment layers, and the cloning complete -
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/png'


Quick pass through Lightroom CS3 to get rid of some of the noise created by correcting the exposure -
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/png'


Again I hope it was ok that I did some process work on this image, I think you had a neat idea and I realize how hard it can be to achieve without certain knowledge of the software.
