So, I recently sold off my 17-55 and got a 28-70 to begin moving to FF. I was set on moving to a 5dc but the wife questioned my choice regarding a DSLR without video and was trying to convince me to save up for what really want.

She is 7 months pregnant and wants me to have a camera that we can share memories, video and pictures, with her family located in other states.

Problem: i want to go FF but she wants me to have video capabilities and my thought is a 5dii is way out of my price range currently and maybe too nuch camera for my skill currently.

Solutions: get a 5Dc and then get a T1i(or t2i) later when I build up funds
Or
Hold onto my XTi now and save another 1k and get a 5Dii in the future when my child starts moving. (When s/he starts walking)

I love my XTi but its high ISO is killing me. (yes I'm talking about you 1600) Ny thoughts?

If time is of the essence, get the 5Dc and T1i or T2i so you will have the video and photo capability. If you are set on the 5D, if you scope the Marketplace, a good deal will likely come your way.

I do not understand, why do you think, a 5D II is "too much camera for my skill currently" and the 5Dc is not. There is not so much difference in Handling: better/bigger display, video capabilities...

If the 5DII is out of your budget, i would suggest the T2i.

Cheers

No. Time isn't critical. I don't mind hanging out and playing with the XTi longer at all. I just have to gather more moolah for the 5Dii which i don't mind. tossing a few bucks here and there from odd jobs will help ease that pain.

5dc and with the money difference save for a sweet baby picture taking lens like a 35L :) (I think your siggy doesn't work on FF)

Video..ehh...I feel like it takes a lot of work and good lenses to get quality video/audio. I'd work on stills first, and maybe learn to make slideshows to add interest to a group of photos.

If you don't mind manual focusing during video, then sure... get 5D2. Else video will require 2-hand operation. Might be easier to just get a Flip or other handheld video device, IMO. Just some food for thought.

I have 5Dc and T1i with kids at home.

5Dc is nice for portraits and AF is not slow in AI Servo with my 28-75 2.8.
T1i makes suitable video and it is very light to carry on with kids.
It also very capable for kids pictures at ISO 6400, which is not available on 5Dc.

But if I would be interesting in video, I'll never get any Rebel for it. I'll keep 5Dc because it has incredible IQ for portraits compare to any 1.6 crop and for video I would get true video camera with 3 CCD chip.
