I'd be avoiding flash altogether as your shutter will be limited to the sync speed (1/200 or 1/250 depending on body). Ideally you'd be able to crop or frame differently and get rid of some of the stuff in the background but I know that's not always realistic to do.

Then up your ISO a tad 400-800 if needed and use AF Servo. Canon 7D, 35mm 1.4, Tamron 70-200 2.8, 28-135, Paul C Buff Einstein!
