Is the 5D II really worth over $1000 more then the 5d classic. The only thing thats i can see that would be better on the 5D II is micro adjustment and sensor cleaning.

Yes, if you need the high ISO capability.

Worth it? Not to a lot of people, definitely not to me.

To other people, I'm sure it is.

Here's the thing. If you're talking about value and bang for the buck it all depends on you. Not to put too sharp a point on it but if your parents are footing the bill, "worth it" basically means what you can sell them.

On a sensor that big, dust removal is kind of important.

Supposedly it is a dust magnet.

How hard is it to clean the sensor

More surface area to clean but a larger area in which to work than APS-C...

(Worries about either 5D being "dust magnets" are overblown IMO)

If you can do without the extra megapixels, video, sensor cleaning, screen and other new tech stuff then save the money and get glass

It has been worth it to me.

Is the 7D worth it over the 60D? Is the 60D worth it over the T2i? They all have the same sensor and IQ, so you're essentially paying for features. Might be worth it to some, but not for others.

And the 5-10x magnification in live view.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

It has all been mentioned scattered in this thread but:

- better LCD
- live view
- movie mode
- more ISO range, 50-25600
- auto-ISO (limited)
- better ISO handling 3200 and above
- micro adjustment
- 3 raw sizes
- more resolution for more crop power
- digic 4 over digic 2, faster overall
- af improvements to detect flicker and color temps
- 150K shutter cycle vs 100K
- slightly more fps
- hdmi output

X100. Definatelty worth it to me. But i still kept the 5d classic. We shoot all full frame now. ALMOST got the 1DMKiV. Came very very close. But after the results with the 5dmkII, we purchased another one over the 1DmkIV. AF speed is not in the same league, thats a given, but on the center point, I think the 5dMKii wins the race for me. I love the camera.

if your parents are paying for it, just go for it.

If you don't need live view, video, or 21MP, I would say no. The 5Dc is plenty capable. I have the 5D2 for the live view and video.

live view is pretty useful for critical focus.
