Definitely not something you see every day. Great capture!

Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.

Bet the folks in lower Manhattan never thought they'd see another jet in the river anytime soon...

Hey, Jay--it wasn't like that. The Concord 'landed' in the Hudson (Oct., 2008) *before* 'Sully' did (Jan., 2009)!
Mebbe Sully saw that Concord sliding down the Hudson earlier and thought he'd give it a go! ;) ;)

Oh I'm aware of the timeline...

Actually, knowing New Yorkers, they probably took one look at Sully's attempt and said, "Again? Fuggedaboutit, it's been done already!"

Really great shot by you!

Thanks, Jay...it was kinda serendipitous...heheh...the wife and I were over on the NJ side of the river, visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island that day, and as I peered across the river, looking toward Manhattan/skyline, thinking I'm gonna get a few nice shots of that skyline, etc...and lo and behold, I spied that sight/Concord sliding down the river! yikes! and fired off a few rounds...heheh

Speaking of Concords (well, at least *I* was), a couple years ago the wife and I visited D.C., and on the way back to Motown we stopped at the Steven Udvar-Hazy Smithsonian Museum in VA, and there was a Concord inside the main hangar there, and I managed to get a few shots of it; man, that museum is super...lotsa aircraft and history there! We first visited the Air and Space Museum in D.C., the day prior, but the museum by Dulles surpassed D.C.'s (IMHO :)

U-H Center is pretty amazing but it's a stone-cold b*tch to shoot in.

Bad light for the most part and really (IMO) cluttered which makes it hard to isolate subjects. Mind blowing collection of history though.

Been down to Dayton?

Jay...yes, was down to Dayton a couple years ago, and you talk about a b*tch to shoot in the dark! there are areas of those hangars where I needed a seeing eye dog! heheh
I agree about the 'clutter' at U-H...they're really packed in!

Peter...I'd like to see 'em in the air, too...but I'm afraid it'll have to be in a museum! :)

The Sinsheim Autotechnik museum here in Germany has a Concorde and a Soviet TU-144 that you can go inside. Inside the buildings it's the same, really too crowded to isolate any one thing.
