About to pick up a "perfect copy" so lock and load.My first serious prime as soon as I make the conversion. Is it worth trying for the AF Confirm
adapter vs the non af.on a 450D or spend the money on a focus screen.

What are you going to shoot with it?
Having used a few manual focus lenses on T1i, I feel it's better to use Live View.
Good quality AF confirm adapter will help you get there, but it's still not as accurate as live view.
Sometimes, the AF confirm dot is kinda annoying IMHO.
As far as focusing screen, I haven't tried it, but I don't really like the idea of peering into the small VF of Rebel series. Also, shooting wide open the DOF will be very thin, so my recommendation is to use Live View and a tripod if your object is holding still.

Cheers! :D

You will want to employ a split prism focusing screen.

Live view is ok, but I can focus much faster with a split prism screen.

I have 5 MF lenses, all with their own AF confirm adapter, and use them with the 60D mainly because of the articulating screen makes using LV 5X and MF a joy for different angles of shooting.

With that being said i have no problem focusing thru the stock screen & viewfinder even at f5.6 & higher and all of my MF lenses or f3.4 and faster down to f1.7

But everyones eyes are different so as others suggest you might need a different screen.

Congrats on your Rokkor, as gasrocks has converted and sold several copies of that lens and it has alot of happy owners.

Regards, ;)

The AF Confirm chip I find handy as it'll flash and then you know you're close and fine tune by eye.

The screen on the XSi isn't horrible, but it's not the best for MF either. I still manage decent results with the stock screen.

Fairly easy to simply look on E-bay if you cant find an individual private seller:

http://shop.ebay.com …_sacat=See-All-Categories (external link)

Prices on most all of these MF lenses have been steadily rising for the past year since so many folks use them for video and also with adapters to fit the Sony Nex 3 & 5 cameras.

Regards, ;)

Is there any differences in IQ between the 58/1.2 and the 50/1.2? I always see the 50/1.2 sell on ebay at a cheaper price.
I am planning to get a 58/1.2 to complement my 35/2 with portraits since my 35/2 is not forgiving at all with female portrat :)

Thank you,

An

I personally only own the below 5 MF lenses but gasrocks is the ideal member to send a pm to and obtain the answers your specifically looking for in regards to the Rokkor. Just look at gasrocks gear list.

https://photography-on-the.net …p?p=4197576&postcount=842

Here are the ones i personally own all fitted with individual adapters:

Oly Zuiko 24/f2.8 Multicoated
Russian MIR24 35/f2.0
CY 35-70 f3.4 Sonnar zoom macro
CY 50/f1.7 Planar
CY 85/f2.8 Sonnar

Just to add i rented the Zeiss 35/f2 ZE and any of the 5 lenses i have will equal it in not providing forgiveness in close-up head & Shoulder portraits since they are sharp wide open and stopped down. And from i have seen the Rokkor/f1.2 at f2.0 & higher is pretty darn sharp but cant comment on the bokeh since i dont own it.

Regards, ;)
