I have a 40D and I need a battery. I don't want to pay extra because of a little "Canon" name printed on it though. Anyone have any brand suggestions of good solid third party batteries?

Apr 20, 2011 23:20 | #4 I had a couple of Sterlingtek batteries that I used with my 40D and they worked great. They charged in the standard Canon charger just fine. I also had a battery from Best Buy that worked just fine but I don't remember the brand. It was cheaper than Canon but much higher than Sterlingtek. Joe

I have a couple from Promaster for my D300 and D70 and they work fine. I wouldnt be surprised if the company that makes batteries for Canon (or Nikon) also makes a number of the 3rd party brands also. Rob
