Apr 21, 2011 07:23 | #8 And this is why I NEVER make purchases with a bank debit card. It directly pulls your cash out of your account and you are hosed. Using a credit card you have a buffer and at least 30 days to resolve an issue. I know a guy who was just making a purchase at a store and the cashier put in 1400.00 instead of 140.00 on one of those number pads that you have to put the price in manually - it pulled from his bank account immediately and even though they refunded the overage it took 2-3 days for the refund to post (great how that works - they take their money right away but are slow to give it back) and he had a mortgage payment coming up within that time span.
