Cute shot! Id want the baby out of the hole or whatever they are in. Looks like it might be a boppy? Grab a beanbag from your local Target, Walmart etc. They provide support while giving you a larger area to work in.

I agree with above, the white balance is way off. Though the edit looks way too cool to my eyes. Maybe a happy medium there. Did you shoot it in Raw? It seems to lack something. Maybe a black level isnt enough or not enough contrast. The skin smoothing from above looks great. It gets rid of some of their baby "blotchiness". Is that your baby Kathryn? Hes beautiful. He/she has a perfect little round head. :D

Thanks for the feedback. I see now mine is too warm, but agree the second edit is too cool, so I can adjust to someplace in between :)

He is on a beanbag here.

I agree on the skin smoothing, it looks good to me, scobols, if you come back to this thread I'd love to know how you did that!

No, this one isn't mine. My son will make his debut sometime mid-August! :D

Okay, here it is a little warmer:

The skin smoothing is an action called Beautiful Skin that I downloaded some time ago. I apologize but I don't know the original author. If anyone wants to try it, I've uploaded it HERE (external link). You basically run the action and then paint in the smooth skin where you want it.

I know, but what! It seems all of my photos lack something, I have hit a plateau and am stuck at 'ok'

Thanks scobols for the skin smoothing link. :)

I got a baby boy on the way come July, so I've been checking out all the newborn threads for ideas for pics, posing, & tips/tricks. yet another helpful thread I came across :-)
