I'm interested in picking up a Speedotron 22" beauty dish for my 580 EX II but I'm not sure what bracket to get to mount the dish and flash.

Does anyone know if I can use the Cheetah Speed Pro Bracket MKII to mount the flash and dish? Any other suggestions for a bracket that will work for this combination?

Thanks in advance.

I just purchased the Kacey 22 Beauty Dish (very similar dish) and had him install a bowen mount on the back. Ready to go out of the box.

I dont think the Speedotron will be as easy.

I know Kacey has a bracket just for the 580EXII but I'm hoping to use a Speedotron with my flash. Will a Bowen mount accept a 580EXII flash and allow modification to attach a Speedotron to it?

FWIW – Cheetah Stand also has a white 22” beauty dish. Call him and ask about it! No need for a custom mount as it comes with a bowen mount ‘standard’.

That would work. I thought he only had a 16". I'll give him a call. Thanks.

If you use the CheetaStand Speed Pro bracket then you can use your Speedlight with any modifier or accessory with a Bowens mount.

Thanks Robert. Does the Speedotron have a bowens mount option? When I looked it up at B&H, it didn't appear to.

Unfortunately, if you want to use the Speedotron 22" beauty dish with anything other than Speedotron heads, you have to remove the insert and replace it with the insert for the strobe or mount you'll be using. It's an easy mod. Many of us have done it and replaced the Speedotron mount with an Elinchrom mount.

The 22" dish was only on the Cheetah site for a short time. To the best of my knowledge, Cheetah is only selling a 16" dish.

do you know the price? would it be worth it to go with a Kacey 22" over the Cheetah 22"?

Kacey uses a stepped dish design and the quality of the product is better than the Cheetah IMO. I also prefer the light output from stepped dishes.
