I did an outdoor shoot yesterday and it was overcast. I used my lightmeter and set my camera manually with settings. My problem was the image is underexposed because of the CPL filter. How do you guys offset or adjust the apperture and shutter? Calculate? Trial and error? Do you guys do anything special?

Didn't the filter directions provide you with a number of how it will impact your exposure?

Compensation may also be printed on the rim of the filter.

Polarizing filter is not just a pair of sunglasses. It also helps with colors to make them richer. And reflections don't just go away with the sun.

Ooops! Somebodies post disappeared....

Yes it did follow that too and readjust it but I guess I have to tweak it more. A noob question, when it said 1.3 of a stop does it mean 1 1/3 of a stop?

Yes - and in brighter sunlight it may be as much as 2-stops depending upon how much it has been rotated. Tweaking would be appropriate..... been there, done that :D.
