I picked up this news story (external link) from a PDN article. These guys are just creepy and their defending themselves as street photographers just doesn't sit right with me.

This is a non-story. Paranoia at best and libel at worst.

Maybe WBZ should stop filming people as well.
Talk about double standards!

Yep, have to agree.
Although, my first impressions were "All looks a bit suspect.
I'd like to know a bit more about what they're doing"
Then I went to the link cdi provided.
That puts it all in a different light.

The news organization is well, a real organization and are talking to people's faces. I agree that the post by CDI still puts it into a somewhat different light but when one sees this happening on the street it is still just a creepy photographer taking suspect photographs.

I'm all for protecting our rights but I am also a supporter of not taking photographs of those that don't wish to have their shots taken. You have to know where to draw the line and it looks like these guys have theirs way below that line.

I always see news organisations as creeps, vultures and bottom feeders.

The only thing creepier than a suspicious pack of street photographers is a local news station obsessed with children being exploited... Or to be more precise, every local news station ever.

Anything and everything is bound to piss off somebody. You name it...
Walking a dog(s).
Motorcycle riding.
RC Aircraft.
Hunting.
Skateboarding.
Mowing the lawn at 6:00 am Sundays.
Etc.

It's my life and I'll get pissed if I want to.

Don't know man. If someone was taking photos of my wife's behind, I might have a problem with that. What about if it was your daughter for instance? You would just tell the photographer nerd to go right ahead?

Uh huh...

Meh over-hyped non-story. People get pissed off with everything you can do these days and the story is typical badly written junk based on heresay and non-reportage.

I'd be more inclined to feel angry if the paper wasn't so clearly trying to create 'outrage' with speculation.
