Glad you have it fixed but I'm still confused as I thought the master setting related to IR settings when using that to fire remotely. Since you are using a wireless trigger I'm wondering if one flash isn't being triggered from the other.

Important thing is if you resolved it.

My money is on delayed strobe firing, and the solution being to reduce ambient light and use a slower shutter speed (or use wired strobes).

very close guess. i think when i used 2-3 strobes it was not that noticable if the light is even untill i started moving/changing lights and power settings.

every shot i took with master ON had this issues. now if you use 2 lights and balance them out, you will not see the bar. you will only see it if you lower the power on the other flash. edit: by the way Randy im using Yongnuo rf602 trigger.

Okay, I use my 580's through IR only and have main set to master and slaves set accordingly. I don't fire my 580's using the wireless triggers since I use monolights for that.
So I'm not really clear on what would happen if I tried using the 580's with the wireless, but as long as you found your problem I guess it's all good!

Edit: Sorry I didn't read the last post. I guess all is well now. :)

I am almost sure it is a syncing problem. I would have suspected your flash at first but after knowing that you used a YNrf-602 triggers which I believe is a Yongnuo and has been getting mixed reviews, I would say it is the culprit. Besides, it is rare that a Canon Speedlights would have syncing problems, but it does happen too. Like one suggested, try to shoot on different speed (slower like 1/125 even 1/100) and see if you get the same result.

Good luck.

All's well that ends well! :)

I have had this happen to me as well but my problem was weak batteries in my 430EX (sync issue). :D Once it was fully charged, the problem was gone.
