So I made a DIY pinhole lens for my 5DmkII. Since the aperture is essentially stopped WAY down, I am able to see dust on the sensor (I think). Are these black spots dust on my sensor? They have shown up in any picture until now.

Yes, it is dust specks on your sensor. Time for a wet clean!

Looks pretty dark for dust.. i'd be willing to bet it's a couple specks of metal(from lens mount). Be super-careful if you go to clean it! ;)

I would Agree it's to dark just to be dust. I had dust on mine it showed up as light gray spots. Be extremly careful cleaning the sensor.

I think the equivalent f-stop of the pinhole (f/256 or smaller) would make the dust specks appear this clear. The more you stop down the lens, the more the dust bunnies appear.
Do a dust check with a normal lens and compare.

Doesn't look like any sensor dust I've ever seen. Sensor dust usually shows up as light gray dots.

You probably can't see any dust at f/4 (unless they are very large), they show up more at f/16 and are darker at f/32. So I think they will be even more visible at the very small f-stop of a pinhole. I still think if a normal lens was used and a dust test was done, the dust will be seen in the same positions, but show up as light gray spots.
