Hi,
I want to built my DIY battery pack, but it seems difficult here in Europe (France) to find Samlex inverter like you use. I found Cotek inverter, but I don't know if these inverters have the same characteristics as Samlex ones : there is 350W (with 700W surge) or 700W (with 1400W surge) inverters. So, my questions are :
- does anyone here uses such brand of inverter (Cotek) ? What are the results ?
- if I want to fire a 600Ws flash (4,6 A surge with 230V), what inverter will be the best : 350W or 700W ?
Thank's a lot for your answers.

I think "pure sine wave inverter" is the key here from all i've read.

YEs pure sine wave is a must! But the rest depends on lots of things. Number one will your strobes handle the sorts of oltage drops you get from Inverters? I would ask the maker of your strobes if they work with battery driven inverters.

Next to be honest I feel like the 600 watt with a 1K surge is about the lowest you want to go with a inverter. Others feel differently.

Thank's for your answer.
The inverters I saw are pure sine inverters.
I ask yet the maker of my flash (Aurora Lite Bank) about the possibility to use an inverter but I had no answer.
But I saw that the Innovatronix Explorer is compatible with my flash : Does that mean that a DIY system will work too ?

The answer is " probably. But I would verify before I purchased the parts to build one.
I would contact them again.

I had finally an answer from Aurora Lite Bank tech. support.
They told me that my flash can be fired with good quality battery pack.
The minimum voltage required to charge the flash is 200V.
They confirm the value of 4.6A during the charge : in fact they told me around 5A. So if I calculate the power required during the charge : 5A X 230V = 1150W. So Am I right ?
Is that means that de 700W inverter (with 1400W surge) could charge my flash, even if this inverter hasn't the "current limiting" system ?
Thank's again for your help.
