What's the difference?

Does a price difference of $70 justified? Build quality, image quality, etc. Also what's the cheapest good macro lens out there? Thanks.

All air is the same. ;)

The differences between tubes is build quality and whether they support autofocus. That's pretty much it.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

"This set contains three tubes of different length -- 13mm, 21mm, and 31 mm -- which can be used individually or in any combination to obtain the desired magnification. These extension tubes are designed with all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain auto focus and TTL auto exposure with most Canon lenses, given there is enough light to activate the cameras AF system properly."

So AF is also supported. So should I pull the plug on the Zeikos?

What about good macro lenses that are cheap?

The kenko are metal the Zeikos are plastic. Neither will effect image quality as there is no glass in them.

I own the Zeikos and even though they are plastic they are fairly sturdy. How durable thy will be over the long haul is yet to be seen (haven't had them long and dont use them often)

If you do want the Zeikos then go to B&H. They have them for a couple dollars cheaper with free shipping as well http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Macro_Extension_Tube.html (external link)

I read somewhere that the Zeikos doesn't work with AF-S lens? Can you confirm that? Thanks.

I dont have any actual ef-s lenses right now but I do have a sigma DC lens which to my understanding is the equivalent to ef-s (not 100% on that so I may be wrong)

I use them in my sigma 17-70mm DC lens with out a problem. If I see my buddy soon I'll see if I can try them out on his canon 55-250 and check if they work.

EDIT: I take that back. After looking at picture of ef-s lenses it seems that the sigma mount is just a regular ef style. I forgot ef-s lenses protrude further out the back then the circuit connectors. However the Zeikos tubes I have seem to have an indent in them to allow the ues of ef-s lenses with them (indent to allow the protrusion). I wont know for sure until I can borrow one of my friends efs lenses but right now I'd say I'm almost positive that the Zeikos tubes I have (bought from B&H) will in fact work with ef-s lenses. I'll post the results as soon as I can get my hands on an efs lens

I have the Zeikos tubes. I have used them with my 17-85 EFs without issue.
I am currently playing with them and my 50/1.4 and 100/2, but am having occasional issues when stacking them on the 100, they just lose contact.
With the 50 they cut out once in a while, but I just un-click and re-click each segment and all is well for a while again.

Looking to get another set to try with my 200mm.

Here is 50mm w/ all 3 stacked. working on DOF :(

and the 100 w/ the 31mm

another with the 50 and I can't remember what tubes (wish they reported :)

oh another thought on AF - you're not going to use it anyway, what you want is the aperture control to get additional DOF.

3.1 Focusing

I tend to use the same focus method no matter what I'm shooting. I set the magnification I want with the focus ring with the lens set to MF and then focus on the subject by moving the camera towards the subject. If I'm hand holding or using a pole then once I'm near focus I gently move the camera back and forth by swaying slightly and take the shot as I pass through the focus point I want. If I'm resting the camera lens on something then I gently move it forward until I get the focus point I want. It does take a bit of practice doing this but you will get more keepers this way once you have mastered it.
With most bug shots they work better if the eyes are in good focus unless you are specifically trying to focus on another detail.

I just tried them with an 18-55 ef-s and just as denvillerailfan said no issue.

I've seen different photos of the Zeikos tubes and it looks like there might be older versions that did not have the "indent" (not sure what else to call it) for the back of the efs lenses. The ones I received from B&H just a couple months have the "indent" in them to allow them to work with efs lenses so I'm guessing Zeikos redesigned them to allow the use of efs lenses at some point.

Either way they work, and they work well!

This was taken with my sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 OS with the Zeikos 21mm tube (70mm- f4- 1/50- ISO100) Should have stopped it down a bit so the DOF wasn't so narrow but I'm still trying to learn with these.

Do NOT use the Zeikos tubes with heavy lenses... maybe I can post pictures after I stop crying.
Outside of the Sigma 120-300 has just a scratch, but it hit hard enough to stop focusing.
