Softlighter II + Cheetah Speed Pro Bracket ??

Talking about poor umbrella brackets, after DYI'ing myself two 8mm umbrellas into 7mm ones via cutting and inserting steel rod, i recently found out the 7mm no longer connect in my umbrella brackets, i need to source a longer screw to actually secure them now.

What a pain umbrellas are turning out to be in the long run.

dmward offered a very good solution: the PocketWizard AC7 RF shield. It works perfectly with the Photek Softlighter.

I picked up a plastic bracket on ebay similar to the cheetah wing bracket. Back then I think I paid like 4 bucks. Using that with an L bracket the inexpensive diy is very rigid.

I use this with my softliter and Westcott apollo. The ac7 shield sounds like a plan now too.
