Want a print for my house.

Just wondering if anyone could help me out a little. I have a pic that I took a while ago with a SX30 before knowing really anything about photography let alone RAW. This is one of my favorite pics and and have no software to clean it up. Question is can it be cleaned up in JPEG, and if so would someone be nice enough to take a stab at it if I emailed it to them? It doesn't have to be perfect, but I'd like to make a large print for my house and a few things I don't like about it. Some of the branches look like the have a red or green shadow and want to get rid of those as well as the fence at the bottom left with the barbed wire. Is that possible? Anyhow, thanks in advance and sorry if this is something only a noob would ask.

The purple and green lines along the tree silhouette are called fringing, and are difficult to remove. You can actually buy fringing filters, but they are not 100% effective. Fringing just means that the lens is not apochromatic, and the green and magenta light is not focusing at exactly the same spot as the other colours of the spectrum. Basically, you have to pay for a better lens if you want better results.

Nope, I don't have an easy solution for this one. You'd have to replace the fringing on a pixel by pixel basis.

Make it black and white, or do some other kind of artistic treatment to it...

Yeah BW might be better. THe color is way too saturated..

I think it can be done but by someone other than myself. This is with a couple of passes with the blend if of the "a" channel to a black under layer. Sadly the whole image took a hit from it

Thanks guys for the info and a big thank you MrAl for trying it looks great for me. I got a PM from another member that wants to take a crack at it, so I'm going to send it and let him see what he can do. Thank you again for all the help! If the other member does a good job and doesn't mind me putting up what he has done I'll repost the pic and the members info.

Did most of this in camera raw.
Decreased the luninance of cyan and greens and defringed all edges.
Then cloned out the fence in CS5.

Hey thanks rw! One day when I'm not a dumb noob I'll know what that is. Does anyone know how big I can make these if I copy and have them taken to a print shop? My ideal size would be maybe as big as a pillow, but if not maybe half that size.

It's a matter of pixels per inch in the print. IMO, 180 PPI will make a good looking print providing you don't view it with your nose against the paper.

Your SX30 shoots an image that's 4320 x 3240 pixels. Dividing by 180, you get an 18 X 24 print with good resolution.
