So I've decided to start a blog chronicling my experience as I try to pursue a career being a DP. It was originally my girlfriends idea but I actually find the writing to be very cathartic and I'm excited to keep it up to date.

Anyways, I wanted to share with you guys my first real post as it has a sincere message, one that I wish someone had sat me down and shared with me when I was first starting college. It's mostly about doing what truly makes you happy, and my own personal experience with ignoring that very important lesson.

It's rather long length wise so instead of posting it here I'll just link you guys to the entry itself

Hopefully you guys like it and will visit my blog every now and then =)

There's an old saying. Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.

Wayne

Do what you love and you will love what you do, that applies to both work and life.

True indeed! You can't think about money as the main purpose of doing "what you love" because then you won't be able to have a lot of free reign over the creative process, it's going to start cutting into your mind ... "do I really want to buy this zeiss prime? but I have bills to pay, will it cover itself in 3 months time?. I need _____ for my movie project, but ______, ect".

I come from a very successful family. My father is a doctor, my mother is a nurse, my sister is graduating from a top law school, and my uncle’s professions range from astronomer, to judge, to ER surgeon.

...

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.
