Beautiful woman, and I generally like the lighting. My two criticisms would be that I don't love the cut off on her head on the first two, and in the first two, the shadow on her left leg, just under her skirt, is kind of odd and distracting. I'm not sure about the triangles (softboxes?) in the third, but I think it's the strongest pose and connection. Nice work :)

your criticisms are solid. thanks for the input!

no, they are umbrellas. i kind of regret having them tucked in so close, because those triangles annoy me. but, i do like how she got so lit up. im pretty new with lighting, so i was experimenting!

peace, dan

Ah, yea, umbrellas, I should've seen that hah.
You can see you're getting a fair bit of flare from the umbrellas bouncing back into your lens.
The lighting on her collarbone is brilliant though, I agree! She's stunning, I do hope you get a chance to work with her again! :)

Actually, I use an IR remote on my Nikons to take self portraits. I rarely to never tether on self portraits, but I do tether quite often in the studio, with about all my cameras. Usually, I'm just using studio strobes and pocketwizards to trigger them, but I'm well familiar with my lights so I'm usually almost always spot on with the values I want within the first image or two. I like using self portraits as a way to experiment with lighting for clients. :)

Seriously all it takes is practice...with that comes familiarity. You'll get it :)
