I just like shooting there. But maybe I should find a different place. I know unleveled horizons make me crazy too!!! ||| Maciejewski flickr

Use a tripod, ISO 100, small aperture (f/11 for crop, f/16 on FF) and focus at the hyperfocal distance. Then, set up in a place where you have some foreground context and you'll get some great shots. Your shutter speed will be long enough to give you a pretty solid chance at catching the lightning with these settings and it will be bright enough to record. Thanks for the tips man! I will definitely be opening that apeture a bit next time. I was a little excited and went for the long exposures lol. Its pretty dark where I shoot so I bumped up the ISO. Im not a very experienced landscape photographer though so I'll definitely be giving thist stuff a shot. Canon 60D-not gripped, a couple lenses, a couple bags, a flash and my trigger finger

Ended up causing about $1b AUD in damage from the hail and flooding! $1b Hail Storm Cheers, Michael

Ended up causing about $1b AUD in damage from the hail and flooding! I did everything you shouldn't do for a great storm shot, but the clouds and sunset were moving fast. It was handheld at iso 1600 f11 I think so it's pretty noisy. It's about the image itself, not the noise isn't it ![]() ![]() $1b Hail Storm Cheers, Michael Wow. Very end of the world-ish type shot! I like it man Canon 60D-not gripped, a couple lenses, a couple bags, a flash and my trigger finger

Day time lightning is pretty much luck of the draw. I'm a novice lightning photographer as this is only my second year to chase lightning pics. There's a few good "tips" and "tricks" out there for taking lightning pics if you do a Google search on the subject. Here's a few of the shots I've taken the last two years. Don't know why the images didn't post as sharp to photobucket as they are in my hard drive, but the images are much sharper when I pull them up off of my computer.
