Hi,
I have been following this forum for a while now, but i haven´t posted nothing until now, I am a lurker :D

I don´t know if I am in the right section but a have one question.

Why are forum members (in the marketplace section) so unwilling to ship worldwide, I have been looking to buy a 7D for some time now, and 90% of the FS threads are just willing to ship within the US or CAN etc.

Is there any specific reason that most sellers don’t want to ship worldwide?

I have sold some stuff on other forums (not photography related) and shipped worldwide, and that is no more hassle than shipping within my home country (Iceland) it is just a little more expensive, but the buyer always picks up the extra cost.

Best regards and happy Easter ;)
Atli Már

I noticed that a lot too. Considering POTN is a US site, most members are more familiar with shipping domestically. USPS is also the cheapest way to ship internationally, and they only cover up to $650 if the item is lost. Those who are selling 7Ds wouldn't risk that. UPS and FedEx are much more expensive ($150+), so I'd assume you'd be better off shopping within your area or an online retailer. Hope this helps!

for me, its just less hassle, less to worry about, shorter waiting time, less expensive, and some foreign addresses are weird and then it is easy to mess them up

Shipping out of the US is a major hassle for several reasons:

- Filling out customs forms
- Standing in line at the PO
- Shipping in a manner that provides seller protection is very expensive and most international buyers I've come across don't want to pay for it
- Buyers hold the seller responsible for their country's customs delays

Sorry! I'm confused. I'm not sure how I connected it with Canon, but I meant that the majority is probably within the US. More specifically, most sales in the BS forum is CONUS, relating back to the OP's topic. Sorry for the ambiguity! :o

Yep. US sales are much easier and carry less risk. Not to mention the always last minute request "can you ship as a gift?". Why do I want to break US customs laws?
