I was out for a walk in Brooklyn and Queens today, exploring the little-known New York & Atlantic RR, a short line that carries freight on Long Island. The line used to be part of the Long Island RR, but as it no longer carries freight, the NY&A was formed to fill the void.
The line runs at grade for long distances, and I followed the line from East Williamsburg in Brooklyn to Middle Village in Queens on parallel streets. Though mostly industrial areas and dead quiet on this Easter Sunday, there was plenty to see and the quiet was very much out of place in NYC.
Three exposures (+2, 0, -2) processed with Photomatix and Lightroom.
