Overall this was a good setup for starting and experimenting in the studio or on location. Remember you will be limited at 110 W/S, which is not a whole lot of light energy. But definitely can do the job for studio portrait work. Nevertheless, today I would seriously look at the Alien Bees kits. I have the JTLs , Alien Bees, and a complete Novatron Studio kit. The Alien Bees appear to be better constructed and have small but important features like continuous output adjustments and built-in fan to keep the electronics cool.
