The image in the canvas has a blue tint. No matter what file I open it still has the blue tint. I've confirmed that all of the channels are enabled. I've reset all the photoshop settings and color settings and it didn't fix it. None of the other Adobe CS4 programs have the problem, it's just PS. When I save the file it saves the image normally with its proper colors.

As it stands, PS is completely useless to me as the colors are too messed up to use it. I'd rather not have to reinstall my whole CS4 suite.

Anyone have any ideas?

You can try to reset PS by starting the program and as soon as you do hit Ctrl+shift+alt.
This should reset all the settings back to where they were the day you installed. Good luck.

I've done that already and it didn't change anything... :(

Been happening for about a month now. I remember I adjusted the blue channel of a photo once. The problem seemed to start around then. The weird part is that it is only a display issue.

How does it display if you don't preview for "monitor color" in the save for web dialog?

My guess is a messed up monitor profile.

I would think if it was the monitor profile alone that everything would look as the picture. I'm thinking it's a custom color setting that somehow got fudged. Below are the default RGB settings.

To see the settings go to color settings and more options. Fron there click in RGB bor within the working spaces and at the top of the list is custom. Click on custom and it'll show what settings you have.

Well, the (blue) image in the screenshot is not in the default working space…

The OP says that all images opened on PS show the same blue? I know it's wrong for me to assume but I did assume after a month of hair pulling that more than 1 profile has been tried. My thinking is, if somehow the color settings were changed within a working space that all images would be effected in a like manor. Fooling around in the settings box I have posted above can cause a world of hurt if changed and saved the wrong way. I've thought about this all night and this is the only thing I can come up with to look at before a complete reinstall of PS due to corruption.

If the two coincide, I would tend to think that the issue lies in there somewhere...

True. But in this case, the default working space isn't used...
(And the OP said he "reset color settings")

It's enirely possible for just PS to display wrong due to a corrupt monitor profile (LR is even more picky): https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=2208548#post2208548

That's why I'm curious what the image looks like in "Save for web" with color management (instead of set to "Monitor Color")

Methinks the OP needs to clarify a bit. And maybe post one of the "blue" images.

That's just it I don't think he can post a blue image because they save with normal color...this is very odd!

So, your background layer thumbnail appears to be displaying the image properly, while the image itself in the work area has this issue. Have you checked to see whether or not you have softproofing enabled and have some funky profile (like one of the color blindness profiles) selected? I have noticed that with softporoofing enabled, only the image itself and not the layer thumbnail gets adjusted to the simulated color profile.

Are you accidentally toggling the keyboard shortcut for softproofing while you are intending to do something else (on the Mac it is CMD-Y)?

It still appears green, the "correct" color.

It was already set to what you showed.

Kirk

Softproofing is not enabled. Enabling it makes it look even weirder.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I think I'm going to have to do a reinstall. I'm all out of ideas. :(

Simply reinstalling wouldn't solve the problem because by default the uninstaller does not remove your Preferences, Settings, etc. You'll either have to reformat your entire hard drive then reinstall or use a good uninstaller program that can trace all dependent/related/leftover files and remove them. I'd recommend using an application like Revo Uninstaller: http://www.revouninstaller.com …taller_free_download.html (external link)

Also, Adobe has a script called CleanScript that can be used to totally wipe Adobe applications from your hard drive: http://www.adobe.com …ontact/cscleanertool.html (external link)
