Almost two years ago I decided that I needed to break out of my little shell and do some world travelling. In preparation, I bought a DSLR so that I could take great pictures and I bought it way back to leave my self time to learn how to use it. Not only have I learned my way around the camera, but photography has become one of my most beloved hobbies! And now that my trip is nearing (will be going for the month of July) I need to figure out where to go to get the best photo opportunities (yes these come up everywhere, I know). What was your number one photo spot in Thailand? Please let me see your pictures as I really don't know what to expect! Also, I'll be spending a week in England too (around Cambridge) if you have any suggestions there. I've seen a lot of threads where people have mad contributions, but I was hoping to make more of a definitive "must see" list here. All help is much appreciated.

Also, I'll be travelling with a 40d, Tamron 17-50, 50 1.4 and speedlite 270ex, unless I sell off a kidney and pick up an ultra wide angle (not likely).

For England you can't beat London if you like street photography. Try the South Bank as well as the British Museum and the Saatchi Gallery. The latter two both allow photography inside without a problem.

Southbank is one of my favourite places in london, though the city is so all encompassing (and surprisingly compact), you'll find somewhere decent wherever you go, Camden (in particular the market) is a point of interest too.
I'd also suggest somewhere like the cotswolds, which have some really quaint little villages and nice scenary :) wikitravel.org/en/Cotswolds

Can't stand London. I have no time for it after having had to spend 5 years there. I love York and Nottingham. Much moe friendly and both are as photogenic. If Scotland is on your list, Edinburgh can't be beat (but then, anywhere north of that is awesome too).

cannot help with Thailand but Around the Cambridge area you have Duxford which is easily the best active aviation Museum in Europe and has a fantastic airshow in July

Cambridge itself is very photogenic with 'olde' world buildings etc

London is the place to go if your into people photography head to 'speakers corner' where all the activists stand and 'preach' their beliefs to anyone who wants to stand and listen usually lots of photogs

heading North York is a beautiful walled city packed with tourists which is about a 2 hour drive from Cambridge
