I want to shoot some products from directly above using a tripod. I currently have a Gitzo GT2541 and I know in order to do this I need to buy a lateral arm. Gitzo has 3 for sale:

Lateral arm 530 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …530_Lateral_Side_Arm.html (external link))

Lateral arm 532 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …532_Lateral_Side_Arm.html (external link))

Lateral arm 535 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Geared_Lateral_Side.html (external link))

Based on what I can tell the 532 is recommended for series 2 tripods which would mean the current tripod I have but I'm curious if size is the only difference between the 3 lateral arms.

Anyone know much about this or own this product? Thanks!

The last one is geared, but other than that, the only difference I see what tripod they are suggested for.

Apart from the 'geared' feature, the other two are for 'sport tripods' vs. for the 'Reporter tripod'.

Manfrotto has a black finish or a chrome finish side arm which would fit the 3/8 stud, at a lower price

Sorry...what's the difference between the sport and reporter tripod? Also do you know if the 535 model arm will fit on a series 2 tripod?

Hmm, thanks for the suggestions but I'll need to check with my local store in regards to that Manfrotto sidearm. For 'specialty' items such as tripod lateral arms most stores here in Hong Kong might not carry it and they might need to order it from overseas.

I simply stated what I had READ in the product descriptions from those two links you provided!...I am not an expert on the Gitzo various models of tripods and what distinguishes one from the other.
