I had a fantastic day at Stonham barns Owl sanctuary between Ipswich and Stowmarket in Suffolk England yesterday ... some fantastic kites, owls and hawks on display and being flown ... and even an fairly tame Robin :)

here are a few of my favorite shots resized for the forum

Wow-those wings could support a body 10 times that size. They must soar at very high altitudes. Thanks for the post.

That was the first thing that occurred to me, too. Those wings are MASSIVE compared to its body size...cool shots there.

the owl in question is an European eagle owl so Fairly large probably has a wingspan of about 5-6 feet and stands at nearly 2 feet high

a beautiful creature in the "flesh" so to speak and one of my favorite to see flown at displays as its still completely silent
