I've been sitting on these for a bit because the band has been in the studio recording, lining up some ducks for a European Tour. I've photographed some of the band members previously in their past band and over the years we've become great friends and collaborators.

I'm not sure how I came up with this idea; why not put a bed IN Lk. Champlain near sunset and see what happens. I wanted the Adorondacks and a sunset. I also wanted it to appear that the bed was floating somewhere in the lake. Needless to say, I needed lighting help for this one...my assistant was great setting reflectors on the shoreline, holding one in the lake and setting up remote flashes in the lake as well. We had to create a bed...buying a headboard, getting a camp bed, plus another air mattress and holding the whole thing together with duct tape.

I must admit that we made quite a stir hiking to the beach/sandbar for the shoot...all the equipement had to be walked in for a mile.

I think it was a lot of fun and pushed me in some different directions...I hope you like them. As always, critique and comments are appreciated.

Thank you for the compliments. We all had a ton of fun that day. One of the things that really helped was my knowing that the sandbar we put the bed on extended a few hundred feet into the lake. That allowed me to shoot on the shore with a long lens and make it seem that the bed was out in the middle.

I like 4 the best also, but I like them all really. I learned so much on this project.

#4 or maybe #6 for me.
In #5, the position of the boat is better, but expression and framing are way better in #4.

In #4, I'd probably clone out the few wisps of cloud in the top, and maybe (re)move the boat. Also, white balance is a bit on the blue side (most noticeable on the right guys skin)
