This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new editing tricks.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture, re-sized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being re-sized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 4 Days (96 hrs) and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #359."

Game ends April 27, 2011 @ 5:00pm CST

Boost clarity and vibrance of entire image, sharpen iris, and brighten whites of eyes and iris in Lightroom. Use Lightroom gradient tool to go from +0.5 stops exposure at left edge of image to 0.0 adjustment in the middle of the face. Unsharp Mask in photoshop and then copy infants left eye and paste it over the right eye. Used the patch tool (50% opacity) on lines under the eyes.

(I don't know if I've played the game correctly. I'm a sports guy so I don't do this sort of editing. Just thought I'd give it a go.)

goldenboy55 - I really like the desaturated look & the lens flare, I wish I could learn to enhance catch lights effectively. Well done.
zivnuska - your edit is quite vibrant, well done.
surgeonhawkeye - I like your desaturated edit & I really like your crop, well done.
Douglas - lol, they 'say' symmetry is beauty... dude this just creeps me out ;) that is one ugly baby  very creative edit, lol.
T3 Heavyshop - very interesting edit, it almost looks like a hologram. well done.

This Round goes to Goldenboy55 those catchlights, the lens flare & that desaturated effect all together really caught my eye. Take it away :D

Well done everyone

Cool! I won....hehehehe

Great work everyone and thanks Lore for giving us the great image to work with! I immediately thought catchlight to bring out the eyes and lens flair for a little movement and drama. I know flairs are played out but I just thought it worked with the look I was going for.

I'll have the next round up shortly!
