Did some backlighting with my good wife as my model. Intended to do some fill with umbrella but it was to windy so had to make do with a simple reflector. What do you think?

I really like the style personally.
The warmer colors work very well. :)

Love it. I really like this style as well.

How was this achieved if you don't mind me asking? I want to try to do a similar shot.

Make sure the sun is behind the subject. Those pics are SOOC with very little adjustments (pumped up blacks a tiny little bit and vibrance a tad) I wanted to catch a decent flare but failed:( Maybe next time. There are guys on this formum who specialise in 'flare' pics and trust me they are sick:)

I like these.

I like the way, with sort of back-lit sunlight shot, you get all those little specks of dust in the air illuminated as well - really adds something to the shot.

I have seen some of those flare pics and they are awesome. I just can't seem to get the right angle to get the right amount of sun saturated goodness into the shot. Are you focusing on the subject and then allowing the sun to creep in slightly?

IMHO, the actual sun flare might overpower these shots rendering your lovely wife a secondary thought. I like the fact that it's very sun-saturated yet your subject is still the main focus.

I'm not saying that this statement is true for all flare shots, just this one in particular!;)

I like the middle one, it looks more natural. Feels like the pictures have a dreamy feel to it. Good job.

Yes I am. You'll probably find that it's hunting like crazy though. If that's the case try to cover the sun with your hand, get the focus right, recompose and shoot. The other thing you may want to try out is employing spot metering to get better exposure of you subject.

I might be talking nonsense here, but it sort of worked for me, plus I also read it somewhore on ths forum. Anyone please chime in if you think you can contribute to improving pictures of this kind.

Honestly, this forum and its invaluable members are better than ANY books, tutorials, etc. I have already got people whom I 'follow' everyday:) (phamster, robert aka TMR designs, pnmd aka Peter, ryan o.hicks -they just rock )

As they say " one day I...':)

Yeah - the hunting is a real problem - I like the idea of using your hand like that - will remember it. Good tip.

I had the same idea last night - with low, summer light. Not hijacking the thread or anything but thought it might be appropriate to post my efforts from last night:

That first picture in the 2nd set is great. A very natural pose and that little bit of flare works great. It makes me feel like I am in 70's.
