Last summer I tried my hand at capturing some shots at this airport, but was never satisfied with the results. I tried it again last weekend. Still room for improvement, but the weather and views were cooperating.

Love the first shot. Very dramatic... the rays coming through the clouds turned out beautiful.

Cheers,

Mike

The last image looks the most "natural", as if no HDR was used.

The first is certainly the most stunning and dramatic. The sun rays are perhaps a bit too strong - not a show stopper - but the intensity looks perhaps too augmented. It's great eye candy though.

The second shot looks more like a graphic design product or photoillustration with heavy airbrushing. I'm not saying this is bad, just that it achieves a different visual effect. I may have dialed back the intensity on the blue sky a bit.

love the first two... in my opinion planes and HDR do mix, and mix well. Nice series!

Love the first two and really like the second one, although the green tinge in the clouds and the sky itself takes away a point or two in my opinion. I love them though.

For me, only really #3 sticks out... but that's mainly since I'm not a big fan of the over-processed HDRs.

Jon...

I like #3 the best. For the first image, it seems a bit dark and running downhill to the right. The green tint around the clouds and cyan sky on #2 seems out of place. I'm not sure what might have caused that.

Agree with altitude604 and navydoc - #3 would have been nice to get the plane tail in but mountains/sky are nicely processed.
#1 - way, way too dark/black.
#2 - sky is weird, too dark and too much of the plane is missing.

Thanks for the share Jon.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I installed a colorimeter a month ago or so which may be the problem with the dark processing. I've noticed this when I look at things on my uncalibrated work computer, but figured it was just that monitor. I'll see if I can adjust the brightness, or maybe have to uninstall it.

Had another go at the first shot now that things appear to have settled down a bit. Better?

This version does look better Jon. Now you can see detail in the top half of the mountains and the bottom of the clouds are no longer black, though still dark.

I like the last shot the best too the way the light shines off the mountain tops. Maybe a little tighter crop on the bottom or clone out the white line (water) on the bottom its a little distracting imo. Really great shot!

Much MUCH better Jon - love it uncropped and lighter.
